History  //  The Origins of Xi

Fourteen ambitious men, who strongly believed in the values of Society Brotherhood and Remembrance, came together to form the University of Maryland College Park colony on April 27th, 2003 .

These men, now known as the FEARLESS FOURTEEN, established a thriving chapter at the University of Maryland College Park that embodied success through brotherhood, leadership, and a proactive role on campus. Since then, Sigma Beta Rho at College Park has been recognized by the United Greek Council (UGC). We have grown from having fourteen founding members to over fifty brothers.

From starting as a Colony, to becoming an Associate Chapter in only two years, on July 14th, 2007 we achieved Xi Chapter Status, along with being named the 2007 Chapter of the Year. Being recognized nationally fully qualifies the chapter and its brother as those who have excellent leadership and solid brotherhood bonds, while keeping in mind the three pillars that started it all.
With these successes, the brothers of the University of Maryland Xi Chapter strive to grow and succeed in the years to come.
